North Course Update

The North Course is closed to carts for the remainder of the year. Walking is fine.

Traffic on dormant turf causes damage that will be present the following spring. Turf that is not growing cannot protect itself, nor can it recover from traffic damage. We are already seeing excess wear from cart traffic in November.

Sand topdressing of greens continues on the South Course today, we begin this process on the North tomorrow. We will install covers on the South greens next week, assuming the ground is not frozen.

Topdressing Approaches

One of the fall agronomic practices for us is to topdress greens, tees and approaches with sand.

With approaches, this dilutes thatch, allows us to mow the turf shorter and most importantly it provides a firmer playing surface. Firmer surfaces gives the player more variety in shot making. All of the approaches and tees were topdressed this week.
