Ty McClellan from the USGA has written a very good article about range tee divot patterns. I have included a link below.
Managing the divot pattern can go a long way towards helping the grounds staff keep the best turf possible on our range tee. With unlimited usage, the undersized tee cannot withstand the amount of play it receives. By utilizing the divot pattern recommended by the USGA, we can provide a much better playing surface.
