Mark Betts began working at Oakland Hills in 1980 and has worked in the grounds department since 1986. He has a great work ethic and is our resident expert on all things Oakland Hills. Before coming to OHCC, Mark attended Michigan State University where he earned a degree in advertising. Mark is somewhat of a history buff, so you can always count on him for an interesting story.
Ron Angle has been with us since 1998. He mows fairways three days per week, but you're probably most familiar with him at the clubhouse where he tends our flower beds.
Ray Flood has been with the Grounds Department since April of 2000. He's in his 13th season! Wow. Ray works part time and is one of our "seasoned" fairway mowers and expert on all things English ... as he was born across the pond. Thanks for a great 13 years Ray.
Gary Campo does several things well for us, including mowing a greens loop every morning ... he claims it's the best exercise in the world. You'll also notice him up around the clubhouse trimming and mowing the lawns and detailing the flower beds. Gary just celebrated his 10-year with OHCC!
Saul Perez - since April of 2002 - is one of our key seasonal staff. He can do most any job on the course and is our "go-to" guy on projects. He's also our bunker specialist .... and most importantly, Saul is a wonderful person.
Mike Butka started in 2005. Mike mows fairways 3 days per week and is our resident expert on home remodeling.
Lucas Palczewski was hired as Assistant Superintendent in 2012. Right away, he became a course expert at Oakland Hills. Lucas is originally from the small town of Scranton, North Dakota, and previously worked in New York. He said he loves working at OHCC because everyone he works with is a lot of fun. When he’s not working, Lucas enjoys biking and spending time with his wife.
Greg Grierson began working at Oakland Hills in 2012. His duties are to tend to the south course bunkers and maintain and repair the irrigation system. Greg attends Oakland University and is working toward a degree in Business Administration.
Collin Elkins started working here at Oakland Hills in 2012. His primary responsibilities include raking the south course bunkers and mowing the tees. Although Collin spends a lot of time working on the course in the hot sun, he says he's not very good at golf. He prefers to be on the ice playing hockey for Oakland University, where he is also studying Pre-Physical Therapy.
Steven Hoffman began working as a groundsman at Oakland Hills in 2012. His daily responsibilities include mowing the greens, raking bunkers, and weeding. He loves sports and plays basketball and golf—It’s no wonder Steven is a Sports Studies major at Central Michigan University.
Jason Rexford joined our grounds team in 2012. He works on the south course, mowing greens, raking bunkers, and weeding. He says the best part of working at Oakland Hills is spending time on the course each day. When he’s not on the course, either working or golfing, he’s probably playing lacrosse, practicing karate, skiing, or snowboarding. Jason attends Michigan State University, where he is pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
